Bill Helin's Art
|
||||
On the remote northern coast of what is now British Columbia flourished from antiquity the Tsimshian Nation. This was a complex Aboriginal culture that evolved in the mists of the emerald coastal temperate rain forest. The dazzling Tsimshian arts embodied the mystical, the supernatural--evoking a time and spirituality when people were more closely connected to nature and mother earth. Bill Helin, whose beautiful artworks grace the pages of Dances with Dependency and Economic Dependency Trap, is cousin to author Calvin Helin. Bill is a member of the Gitchiis Tribe of the Tsimshian Nation. He is son of Hyemass—one of the most famous Tsimshian Chief warriors of ancient coastal legend. Bill is a master artist and has become internationally renowned for the refined quality of his work as an artist/designer, and his versatility in various artistic mediums. In addition to mystical paintings and limited edition prints, Bill produces a selection of exquisite hand engraved and cast jewellery, and has just launched a new line of elegant fashions featuring his art. The stunning artwork and imagery of the Tsimshian are also available in the most sophisticated jewellery techniques and design from Bill--a beautiful legacy of a golden age and culture. Joining Bill in his mission to provide a wide selection of wearable art are his sister Leanne and son Alex.
